So sustainable development is good? It’s all about control. It usually means restrictions and removable of rights and while we are subjected to sermons about the necessity for removing our rights and all the usual scare stories (instilling fear = control) we find that the big guys are still doing pretty much what they want.
Take fracking – this process is permitted despite the fact that residents have become severely ill and attribute this to fracking. If you can set light to your water it can’t be pure! Why not ensure that the corporations are obliged to ensure the safety and ecological integrity of their processing etc? Let’s put things in perspective before we agree to even more control. Do we really need a foreign organisation to tell us how to look after our island? Don’t you think there could be a lack of balance in the self-righteous eco movement?
