Some areas are not permitted to store rainwater. The public is subjected to indecent forms of frisking if they don’t agree to a full body scan. The enhanced searches are a form of indecent assault – this is performed on small children and the elderly alike. Naturally grown food is subject to restrictions and is difficult to obtain while genetically modified produce is in every supermarket and is not identified thereby preventing purchasers from avoiding it. Protestors are subjected to extreme violence by police. Vaccines are mandatory in many areas and in some places there is even a door-to-door vaccination team. Drones are now to be introduced for domestic surveillance. Indefinite detention is likely to become law – “without trial, proof or cause.” In other words you can be locked up indefinitely for having done absolutely nothing. Those who speak out against the regime can be simply locked away and would have no right to a fair trial. Provoking war, attacking innocent civilians and killing thousands is the norm.
The leaders, however, keep up the spin of this country being a highly developed democracy with freedom of speech and a desire to bring peace to the world.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels
Which banana republic or dictatorship can the above refer to? Hold on to your hats – it’s our friend the USA. This only a small part of what now goes on over there and is simply a tiny example of the lack of freedom and the ever-increasing controls which are being introduced there. Sounds pretty awful doesn’t it? Well, at least they don’t yet seem to have quite as much CCTV as we do. I guess the drones can take of that side of things. But why don’t we try that too? Well, actually Liverpool police already have. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2010/02/11/merseyside-police-make-uk-s-first-ever-flying-drone-arrest-in-litherland-100252-25810555/
Has the world gone crazy? Terrorism was the cause of 6,900 deaths in the period from 1995 – 2004. Compare this with the 50,000 daily deaths that occur as a result of hunger. Do our reactions seem balanced? Do we really need to make savings in education while spending thousands and thousands on CCTV?
With some level-headed, clued-up Tynwald members this island could be a haven of common sense and personal sovereignty. Can they succeed?
