Phil Gawne is disappointed that the proposed Colby development is going through. Alf Cannan has been an opponent of the proposed development in Kirk Michael, and has been successful in his plea for a commission of enquiry into the details of the land deal. In both cases there seem to be valid concerns about the proposed schemes. However, some may feel that these proposals would supply much needed housing and should be welcomed.
But is there a disparity here? Housing plans are scrutinised and queried. Yet if the Department of Economic Development has its way there will be no opportunity to register dissent or concerns if development could possibly mean ‘kerching’ in the treasury coffers. (At least that is my interpretation of a hazy document). There’s deafening silence on this.
