I have a problem. I’m normally a very patient person. However, I have noticed that I become very frustrated by those I believe to be in denial about the powers that be and all that is going on. So in an attempt to find a solution to my problem and to find better communication methods I decided to look into cognitive dissonance.

Cognitive dissonance is a psychological phenomenon which refers to the  discomfort felt at a discrepancy between what you already know or believe,  and new information or interpretation. It therefore occurs when there is a need to accommodatenew ideas, and it may be necessary for  it to develop so that we become “open” to them.

Not being one to delve into deep psychological realms I nevertheless pursued things a little further and came upon this gem below. I get it now. Pay someone enough money and they can overcome their scruples and lie through their teeth. Explains everything. Simples.

  1. cognitive – knowing perceiving
    dissonance – disagreement

fancy schmancy way of saying aware of the bullshit

cognitive dissonance – aware of the lies and manipulation

usually combined with moral cowardice and no desire to do the right thing, I have my $20 so I am quite happy to bamboozle the next batch of suckers.

  2. I think it a bit human nature and certainly does apply to civil servants, so long as my pension and job are alright then the quality of service to the public is irrelevant.

It seems to me that the moral cowardice gets worse the higher you go up the rankings of the government.
